The questions are:  have we as Americans become so jaded and used to lies told by the Government that we are willing to ignore clear and convincing evidence that our our Government lied and lead us into a war which did not have to happen?  Is the American media so spineless as to ignore and squash important information like the smoking gun memo and refuse to release that information in major media outlets?  Why do we accept that an administration who has clearly been caught in lie after lie can refuse to answer or discuss even the most basic or inquiries about it's activities leading up to and during this most likely disastrous war? What is it?

Journalists are usually the first ones to heap scorn upon attempts to force them and their colleagues to disclose their sources, saying that doing so would put a dampening effect upon government expose and weaken the systems of checks and balances that protect our right to know.  Aleaked document that appeared in a British newspaper offered clear evidence that U.S. intelligence was shaped to support the drive to war...and yet, nary a peep have we heard from the U.S. media.  This type of silencing of the Media goes on every day that we are kept from knowing the truth about what happened in the days leading up to the war and, indeed, what is happening right now in Iraq.

You've got to hand it to the Bush Administration.  They've got nerve.  The President even recently refused to meet with families of deceased American servicepersons who were demanding to know...of all things...why their family members had to die in this pointless war.  One can only imagine the outcry if another party...otherwise known as "wimpy"....had perpetrated such an act.  Oh the outrage, the howling of unpatriotism, commie, and the like.  Really, there might even be cries of---gasp!---impeachment.  Some Republican sympathizers even go so far as to blame the families of the deceased for questioning what their loved ones had to to die for.  Talk about blaming the victim.

It seems to us that the ones who are so vehemently pro-war should be the ones who should give the ultimate sacrifice. Send their children off to Iraqi soil to risk life and limb in the desert.  If these individuals are so gung ho and ready to defend "freedom",  why not provide the ultimate sacrifice---: Little Johnny or Jane.  Then we'll see who the real "patriots" are.  Our guess is that the line to sign up will be relatively short indeed and we'll start to hear a chorus of those patriots joining the rest of us shouting, "President Bush, why are we in Iraq?"
